Ilam School is proud of our school uniform.
Not only does a uniform enhance the school identity and feeling of ‘we are one team’, it provides good quality, economical clothing. It also eliminates the problems associated with ‘clothing competitiveness’ some other non-uniform schools can face.
All your child’s clothing should be clearly named. Lost property is stored at the school for a short period and unclaimed items are then disposed of.
Guidelines
All students are encouraged to wear the school uniform.
The uniform is available from The Warehouse and Mainland Uniforms (376 Ilam Road, Bryndwr).
For safety reasons earrings (other than studs), jandals, jewellery and unsuitable footwear are not be permitted.
The foundation school uniform is as set out below. Please remember to add your child’s name to all uniform items!
Footwear
Sneakers/trainers are preferred for health reasons. Please, no shoes with wheels or flashing lights.
Uniforms — Second-hand
Our wonderful PTA organises Second-Hand Clothing Sales on a number of occasions throughout the year. Dates are communicated through the school newsletter and whanau calendar.
Sun Protection
Every summer, we inform our children about the consequences of over-exposure to the sun.
We encourage all students to wear sun hats and sunblock when appropriate.
During terms one and four, children who are not wearing sun hats are required to play in a shady area.

Mainland Uniforms kindly offer a New Entrant Special for children starting school.
Receive a $10 discount when you spend over $100 on New Entrant uniform items.
