Yes, your child must come to school every day, unless they are unwell or there is a special home circumstance. 

For your child's safety, we ask that you let us know before 8.55am if your child is going to be absent from school.

If a child fails to arrive and the school has not been notified, the parents/caregivers will be sent a text message notifying them that their child is not at school.

Overseas Travel During Term Time (form below)

Family holidays or overseas travel during term time are not endorsed and are recorded as unjustified absences.

The school does not “approve” leave during term time. Absences are recorded in accordance with Ministry attendance coding guidance.

Whānau must notify the school in writing prior to any overseas travel during term time, using
the form, Overseas Travel During Term Time. (Please fill in the online form or contact the office on admin@ilam.school.nz and a link will be sent to you.)

The purpose of notification is to:

● Ensure accurate attendance records

● Enable the school to monitor cumulative absence totals

● Allow planning for re-engagement on return
